Trampoline Park

29/03/18

I was home for Easter so I went back to my home unit for their last meeting before Easter. We took them to a local trampoline and parkour park. The girls were really excited to see me again and just generally excited to be out of the meeting place doing something different. They had to watch a video before they could get on the trampolines and then all ran off manically, leaving the leaders to pick up all the discarded coats and shoes to make a vaguely neat pile, although we did end up having the place to ourselves.

There were a series of small trampolines, some monkey bars and ropes over a foam pit, a battle beam, a soft play area, and a small parkour area. We let the girls do whatever they wanted and most of the leaders sat at the side with drinks for the girls. I spent most of the time bouncing on the trampolines and seeing if I could still do some of the things I had learnt at school while also keeping an eye on the girls. They all seemed to thoroughly enjoy their hour running around crazily. There was also a guy who worked there who would occasionally do flips and tricks across the trampolines and I caught two girls at one point just staring at him with their mouths wide open!

We only had one injury when a girl fell off one of the bars in the parkour area and landed a bit funnily. Luckily her Dad had already arrived ready to pick her up and so we handed her over to him for some sympathy and cuddles and she seemed OK by the end of the meeting.

I would definitely recommend this as an activity if you haven't tried it before. We rang up and put down a deposit before we went, so they were aware that they would have a large party coming. It is probably also worth checking who usually goes in the session that you are thinking of - if it's the night that the local students descend on it, or a gymnastics team come to practice then you may want to pick a different night!
